Is laser hair removal at home safe and does it hurt?

Is laser hair removal at home safe?

All of the home lasers we sell are designed with your safety in mind and are designed specifically for use in the home. Each unit is required to meet strict standards before they are given approval for sale for home use.

We would strongly advise against the use of laser hair removal when pregnant as there has not been enough satisfactory research undertaken to guarantee safety to an unborn child.

When using a home laser hair removal unit at home as you would with any skin product or electronic device you should always read the user instructions and precautions very carefully before use.

Very occasionally there are some side effects such as reddening or swelling around the treated area but these usually subside shortly after treatment.

Because of the use of laser light contact should never be made close to the eyes and in all of our products there are unique safety features which are designed to prevent this. For the specific features you should read the instructions for each machine.

...and does it hurt?

Different people have different pain thresholds so to answer, laser treatment will hurt some more than others.

There are a number of factors that may affect how much you feel when using a home laser. For example some people with very dark hair or course hair may find using a laser more painful. Fortunately the better quality lasers have a number of settings which allow you to find the setting that is right for you.

As with all laser products we would recommend that you read the specific details about each product to determine it’s suitability for your skin type and anticipated pain threshold.

One thing you can be certain of is that some of the other hair removal methods such as waxing, sugaring and epilating can be much more painful than using a home laser.

If you do have a very low pain threshold or just want to reduce the pain levels you can buy an analgesic gel which has a numbing effect and fortifies the skin before treatment. So~Smooth sells Zcaine™ if you would like to buy Zcaine™ or receive more information about it click here.

If you find that there is discomfort after treatment you can also buy a post laser soothing crème which sooths and rejuvenates post laser treated skin on contact. So~Smooth sells Zcalm™ post laser rejuvenating crème if you would like to buy Zcalm™ or receive more information about it click here.

Home laser hair removal can hurt but not excessively so and the pain soon goes away especially if you use an analgesic gel or post treatment crème.
