E-One Technology
E-One Uses IPL which stands for Intense Pulsed Light
The Intense Pulsed Light is a technology aimed at producing light of high intensity in a short period of time. The light emitted during the flash is absorbed by the melanin contained in the hair follicle which is then converted in thermal energy. The heat produced will then destroy the hair by cauterizing the vessels connecting to the base of the hair: the hair falls out and never grows again.
As far as hair removal is concerned, the most important part of the hair is its pigment, the melanin, which gives the hair its colour. There are as many pigments as there are individuals. Every pigment type requires a certain wavelength of light. Contrary to the laser which produces a monochromatic light (single wavelength), the flash lamp produces a multitude of wavelengths. This allows many different hair pigments to be targeted by one pulse of light.
The technology used in the E-One hair removal device resembles the same technology found in the flash lamps used by professional hair removal therapists. Recent technological advances have enabled this professional technology to be adopted for home use. It is now possible to obtain of professional results in the privacy of your home with the E-One hair removal device.
Previously, professional flash lamp units were large and bulky because of the energy they consume. They consisted of a "condenser block" and a water cooling circuit. The capacitors in the professional units usually only see approximately 15-20% capacity. This assists in producing a uniform flash energy level.
The unique feature of the E-One is that it utilises more than 90% of the capacitor reserve throughout its use, which reduces the required capacitor bank size. At the same time, the E-One is specifically designed to control and regulate the flash output to ensure a continuously uniform output level.
In regards to cooling, a hydraulic cooling system is used by professional units to cool the lamp area which undergoes an intense pulse at every flash. Once again the E-One utilises an innovative design whereby the flash unit no longer needs to come into contact with the flash body. This reduces the need for a complex cooling system making air cooling sufficient. Thus, the size of the unit is further reduced.
To summarise, better energy management and intuitive design enables the E-One hair removal system to match the performance of some professional devices in a smaller package suitable for the home.
How to Use
Prior to your E-one treatment:
The skin area to be treated by the E-One has to be perfectly clean and clear from any cosmetic product.
Drawn the border of the area to be treated with the E-One’s white pencil (provided with the device), then shave the area with a standard razor.
Notes:
Depending on your depilation method, it may be necessary to wait a short while prior to using the E-One to obtain better results.
If your depilation method was:
•Razor:
◦You can use the E-One straight away.
•Depilation cream:
◦It is recommended to use the E-One 1 week after your last depilation cream treatment.
•Waxing, thermal depilation machine, tweezers:
◦It is recommended to use the E-One 3 weeks after your last treatment.
•IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or laser technologies:
◦You can use E-One only after hair re-growth has become mature.
Commencing you E-One Treatment:
Apply the Optical Gel generously on the area you wish to remove the hair.
Put on the Safety Glasses.
Apply the applicator head on the skin surface, push the head down slightly and press the button on the side of the applicator head at the same time.
Release pressure, move the applicator onto an other area to be treated.
For each flash, an area of 6 cm2 is depilated (3cm x 2cm).
Then proceed the same way on all the areas to be treated.
After your E-One Treatment:
Throughout the next few days following treatment (up to 1 week), hair may still be present on your skin, they may continue to grow for another 3 or 4 days.
After approximately 8 days, the hair should start to fall out by themselves. They won’t all fall out at the same time, it is a process that takes approximately 2 weeks.
Approximately 3 weeks after treatment with the E-One, all exposed hairs should fall out, with a few of them possibly re-growing after approximately 40 to 60 days.
After each treament, less and less hair is expected to will grow back. The hair that still remains will be thinner and grow back at a slower rate.
Number of session treatments depends on each person and his/her wishes. Finally, after an average of 10 to 12 treatments (approx. 2 months apart), only 1 or 2 uses per year should be required to keep skin clear and hair free.
Save Money
Costs related to the use of E-One:
The use of the E-One turns out to be the most cost-efficient method over a year period (for the E-One, cost includes the price of the device together with the costs related to the use of the E-One)
The contact surface of the E-One applicator head measures 6 cm² (3 x 2cm). This means that with every flash, you should be able to remove unwanted hair from a 6 cm² zone. The E-One optic cartridge has a designed lifespan of 3000 flashes, meaning that it can remove hair from approximately 18,000 cm² of skin surface. A new cartridge is sold at the retail price of £ 91 (all taxes included), i.e. a cost per cm² of hair removed of £0.030.
Here are a few examples of annual costs related to the use of the E-One. (1 session every 2 months on average)
•WOMEN
◦half-legs: £ 9,64
◦underarms: £ 0,90
◦bikini (Brazilian): £ 1,20
◦lupper lip: £ 0,11
◦chin: £ 0,54
◦cheeks: £ 1,07
◦forearms: £ 4,50
•MEN:
◦Beard (including cheeks): £ 4,50
◦Shoulders: £ 3,30
◦Full back: £ 8,57
◦Chest: £ 4,82
◦Belly (stomach): £ 4,82
Considering that it takes on average one session every 2 months, it becomes apparent that E-One is a more cost effective method of hair removal compared to others.

Clinical Test for E-ONE
To evaluate the E-One’s performance against professional IPL devices, E-Swin founded a scientific committee. The committee gathers doctors, lecturers, dermatology experts and hair specialists. The mission was to conduct a full range of tests in many different contexts to determine how the E-One performs and to evaluate its performance against the other IPL devices on the market.
In 2008, the committee embarked on a clinical study under medical surveillance, with 63 volunteers participating in the survey. The volunteers were both male and female, ages 18 to 55, with a wide range of skin types (photoypes II, III and IV).
The first phase of this investigation took place in a renown Parisian hospital and also in a private clinic based in Aix en Provence. The objective of the first phase was to confirm absolute tolerance levels and to rate the superiority of the E-One (using its IPL technology) versus wax depilation. Wax depilation was chosen as it is the most commonly used form of hair removal. In this trial, the underarm area was selected to undergo testing. A hair removal session was performed on each individual, selected randomly, with a balance of wax depilation and E-One treatment.
Dermatology examinations were performed both 15 minutes and 24 hours after the first hair removal session. Two dermatologists who were external from the committee examined and evaluated pictures of each subjects’ underarm area, without revealing the treatment method.
Further hair removal sessions and dermatological examinations were conducted; images were taken to monitor progress every 7 weeks at the laboratory by technicians.
Tolerance Results:
The results show that there is no long-lasting irritating effects when using the 2 techniques.
•15 mn after hair removal, we can notice very light redness marks among only 21% with the E-One (versus 46% with waxing) and in any case, no important redness (versus 11% with waxing).
•After 24h, with the E-One, only 3% still have light redness (7% for waxing).
•15 mn after hair removal, we notice a very light inflammation for only 7% (14% for waxing) and after 24h, there is no inflammation with both techniques.
Efficiency Results:
Best results on the underarm every 7 weeks (49 days):
Average of the results according to the two investigators.
After only 2 treatments, the results are very positive since 85% of users prefer using the E-One than doing waxing.
100% of the users prefer using the E-One than doing waxing starting from the seventh treatment…
